I have a question as to how to reduce leg muscle, i tend to build it quickly, i'm a 16 year old female and i would like to get rid of the upper leg "bulge" and create a "flatter" leg from the side if that makes sense...how can i accomplish this? i do have a teeny tiny bit of cellulite on the upper part of the back part of my legs, but the sauna seems to be helping, and i also have a little bit of weight that could come off my thighs, so could it be that my muscle looks bigger because of the fat thats on top of it, and if i lose a little weight/burn fat it will decrease? i just really want to get rid of that upper muscle bulge from the side view of my legs. i don't have access to a gym but i have been rebounding, doing yoga, and the Billy Blanks total body fat blaster Tae Bo workout. and sometimes pilates. also i get in an infared sauna a few times a week. I eat organic, and drink plenty of water so diet is not an issue. can someone please give me some serious suggestions please? thanks

Hey, I have been doing a lot of jumping jacks lately and my leg muscles have started to hurt. When I began doing the jumping jacks, I noticed I lost some weight--but I think that had more to do with the large amounts of water I was drinking. Now, I am not losing weight at all. Is it possible that the fat I may be losing is being compensated with muscle weight? Hope so lol.. Thank you in advance. :)

would the water weight cause very little to none in the difference of my weight? because it feels like i am carrying an extra 10 pounds around when i walk. and i'm normally around 110-113 pounds and my scale says 119. also, if i excersize while my legs are swollen..will it still cut calories and help build muscle or will this prevent me from benefiting from my daily excercize routines?

Ok, so for a couple of months now, my calf muscle has been twitching on and off all the time. sometimes there not bad and sometimes it gets to the point where i would cut my entire leg off! i don't know the reason for this. i've seen the answers given like eat a lot of Bananas(which i am alergic to) and have a lot of water(which i do). the other day the twitching got so stornge that it woke me up from sleeping at like 5 in the morning. what is causing this, its like my muscle is pushing back into my leg instead of poping out like i thought it would. and sometimes, like on my thigh when im laying down, there will be this one muscle that vibrates insainly fast for like 2 seconds... do you think i need a doctor? is there any medicines i could take for this to go away?

For the past 4 weeks I've been following an exercise routine of 45min of light weights (100lbs or less) plus a 3 1/2km run every other day, and on the opposite days I only run 5km. I have 1 day off a week. I've timed my 5km run at about 23min just in case you're wondering how fast I'm going. Also, when I finish my run, my heartrate is between 180-190bpm for 25years old. Anyways, I've lost about 6.5kg (14.3lbs) in these 4 weeks which is great but am I burning fat or muscle? I started at 83.5kg (183.7lb) and now I'm 77 (169.4lb) and for the past 4 days I've been stuck at 77kg. I really don't care about losing the weight but I want my body fat to go down. After following a website's math to calculate body fat %, my body fat % has gone up if I measured myself correctly. Does this mean I'm losing muscle? My current diet is totally different to what I used to eat before I started all this running. I used to eat tons of crap food in large servings and now I think I'm eating quite healthy but is it hurting my body fat loss goal? Breakfast: Mango + bottle of water or orange juice At work: Energy drink 500ml to get me going for the day followed by more water (1 a day M-F for the past month) Lunch: 2 Toasted ham and cheese sandwiches (white bread) with 1 slice processed cheese each. Bottle of water and/or leftover energy drink (I make 500ml last a while) After workout/run: Protein shake 30g protein and 2% milk Dinner: Usually only a large piece of fish or Chicken breast, onion and salad (anything protein packed, low fat) If you haven't noticed, my carbs are much lower than usual except for the white bread I'm eating. I love carbs but I just don't seem to crave them anymore. With my diet and exercise regime, would my weight loss be fat, muscle or both? My leg measurements have gone up, my waist is down, upper body is the same as before but my body fat % has seemed to go up according to the math I followed. What do you recommend I do or are my results pretty good so far? I drink plenty of water also. Maybe 3-5 litres a day I live in Australia and the energy drink is called Mother. It has lots of caffeine in it and I can spread a 500ml tall can of that out over a day because even a few sips gets me moving quickly. I don't get jittery unless I drink too much of it too fast and I realize the symptoms. Thats when I put it down and swap it for water.

Specifically, it's my tibialis anterior muscle. (If you don't know where that is, use this link http://www.drfifield.com/images/body_full_length_-_muscles.jpg You can see it best on the right leg (from our view) just below the knee. Make sure to zoom to see better.) Here is what I do before I run: 1. I drink some water 2. I stretch 3. I walk for a few minutes to warm up The pain comes in about a minute after I have begun running, without me being even slightly tired. P.S. I have never had any muscle problems before and I'm running on a treadmill. I also know the pain is not caused by the stretching. I have already tried massaging it .

Yeah its pretty weird. I've been taking muy thai for 3 years and i believe i'm pretty good. Its just that for our school seminar, our instructor wants us to "perfect" the flying knee kick. So everyday since i've been practicing it and for some reason i;m starting to get old! Everytime i do it, i do it the same exact way how i was told. I also stretch before i train, so that should help me from tearing a muscle in my left leg. But it didnt. I went to my doctor who lives next door (hoping i could get some advice) and he told me that i should stretch for a good half hour before starting and always drink water to provide flexibility to my muscles or something like that. so i tried it. It still didnt work. What should i do to prevent me from tearing a muscle in my left leg?

I'm a girl that's 5'9 at 155 lbs. My main goal is to get a nice slim tone body. not to necessarily lose weight. I have a workout routine, and its working great because i can see the muscles in my legs now and i can definitely feel it in my abs. But I feel like i'm just building muscle underneath my fat, which is the last thing i want. I normally have a fruit for breakfast[7:00], a granola bar for a snack[9:00], another fruit for another snack[11:00], nuts and juice for another snack[1:00], a bagel with meat and cheese when i get home [4:00], whey protein[5:00] and some kind of light dinner at about 6. And drink a lot of green tea and water all the time. What should i change in my diet so the muscle bulk up doesn't happen, and it burns fat like its supposed to instead of growing under it?

Hello! I've been experiencing extreme muscle cramps in my legs lately during swimming. At school we're doing lifesaving and we have to swim for 50m, but when I swim about 10meters far.. My leg starts to cramp [The back of my lower leg OR sometimes in my foot] It takes me a while for it to stop cramping and I try to stretch my leg under water. After it stops cramping [30sec-2mins] the muscle really hurts and is sore to walk on after :I Sometimes in the middle of the night, I wake up with a cramp in my leg or my foot and it goes on for about 4minutes. All my cramps are very painful. I've looked at many sites and none of their answers are working x.x I warm up and stretch before I enter the pool and I drink lots of water. I'm not sure if it's my calcium levels that's making this happen because I drink a glass of chocolate milk everyday because when I drink plain milk or cheese, it will cause me to vomit. What can I do to prevent my leg from cramping again?

I know for a fact that a lot of people take water polo as an easy sport or a gay sport because of wearing speedos. I also know for a fact that if you have never played water polo in your entire life or swam as an athletic sport your entire life or in a while at that, that you will be demolished in the pool. People see us water polo players and think were playing the easiest sport in the world. i can give you so many reasons why its probably the most brutal sport out there. 1) it takes a crap load of endurance and stamina to keep up. were talking about constant sprinting in the water with you head up, trying to keep you eye on the ball as well. You have to have good stamina and endurance in order to not be tired instantly and to be able to keep up with the game. if you get tired and try to stay afloat, its not going to happen. plus your always treading in the pool. there is no break time once your in there. 2) you need a lot of upper muscle to be able to throw the ball, and you need a lot of leg muscle in order to get yourself out of the water. most water polo players i know (including myself) can get themselves out of the water to there belly buttons or top of speedos. the friction from the water makes it that much harder. 3) since we are in water and the refs are on the sides of the pools, practically anything goes UNDER the water. you can kick, scratch, punch, jab, pull, do anything you want under that water without getting caught. hell, if your sneaky enough you can even do some damage outside of the water as well. im not saying other sports are not tough or anything im just simply asking why water polo gets all the crap, when its clearly very difficult to manage.

I am looking to get into flat water kayaking and want an entry level model that has a reasonable speed on flat water. I only plan to use it on flat water. I am a rower but I want to get into something new, and I figure kayaking would work some of the same muscles as well as the cardiovascular system, making it a good cross training exercise when I cannot get to my boat club (I can get my leg workout from cycling). Does anybody have any suggestions?

Yesterday I worked from 12:30 pm to 10 pm and was on my feet the entire time either standing, sweeping or just moving around. Today my legs are pretty sore and when I weighed this morning, I was about 2.5 to 3 pounds heavier. I didn't take in a lot of salts yesterday so I'm wondering if this is a reaction to my muscles? I really didn't eat a lot yesterday and probably didn't drink as much water as I should have.

I have been training for the Chicago marathon for a while now with little difficulty. My milage increased slowly for 2 months, but recently I have developed a pain in my hip. The pain originates about three inches below my waistline and seems to move between the butt and the thigh, but mostly stemming from the outside of the leg. I had just increased my milage from 23 to 25 and had run 3, 5, 3, 5, (rest), and 10 miles. When I started to feel the pain I took four days off to let everything cool off, but I am now (a week and a half later) unable to run farther than a quarter mile without the pain returning. I don't know if this is a specific injury or if there is a muscle group I am neglecting in my stretching that might be causing the pain. I wear motion controlled shoes and run on an asphault trail. I hydrate well with both water and sports drinks. Any help would be much appreciated.

Yesterday i was squatting down to get into swimming pool. I felt a sharpe pain go from below my right knee to the front of my thigh. I went ahead and got into the water where i kept moving the leg to keep it from cramping up on me. Immediately after getting out i still felt pain, when i walk, sit, . It hurts on the front of thigh the inner part on thigh in the leg/hip joint. I can even see my leg jumping occassionaly. It feels like its cramping up and I feel like theres popping going on . What do you think i should do.

I am taking 100mg once a day at night. Just the other day I've noticed this twitch in one of the muscles in my thigh. It has been twitching on and off since yesterday. While my psychiatrist told me the risk is low for developing any of these side effects from the use of anti-psychotics, I still worry. I won't be on this for too much longer. Do you think my leg is just tired and that's why it's twitching? Am I being paranoid? I did go swimming the other day and I did tread water for about 20 minutes, and I never get exercise. I'm not sure...

I'm 24, more or less healthy, eat well and drink enough water. Three years ago I think I sprained my knee having fallen asleep in a very bad position. After that incident for several months each time I would be sitting for a long time in the car it would start to nag. I think I could exactly spot the site of pain. It's on the right side of the knee cap (left leg!) and slightly down. Some time had passed and it went back to normal. Three months ago I started doing yoga, very gentle beginner exercises. One time I noticed some discomfort in the left knee, changed the position and it went away. Two weeks ago, being a noob, I think I slightly overdid during one of my practices and when bending forward trying to reach the floor I think I sprained that knee again or something. Now the funny thing is that I also feel discomfort in my spine now because after doing a spinal rock during that same practice I felt some pain landing on one of my vertebrae. Now my question is: is that minor spine injury (the Xray fine) is giving me that weird left knee pain again and is that tingling and muscle spasms (like sudden stiffness) in my left leg, toes, thigh at times the result of that spine injury ("pinched nerve"?), in which case I didn't actually sprain my left knee this time, or is the knee a separate thing from the spin injury and I happened to sprain it? Those muscle spasms are so weird. Is it part of the healing process? Please, explain if you can. Thank you!

i've had 3 within the past 2 weeks and before that the only kind of leg aches i've ever had are just muscle soreness from running. i am in high school and i run track and play soccer. i am usually pretty active and put in at least 10-20 miles of running per week as well as about 25 miles biking. the leg aches happen in one leg at a time and last for about 2-4 hours. its hard to describe the pain because i can feel it throughout my entire leg, from my hip to my toes. its just a dull ache and its really not that painful but makes me feel a little nauseous even though it doesn't hurt that bad. it's just obnoxious. i take a multivitamin every day and drink plenty of water.

From soccer my muscles are very painfull and all knotted up. I cannot stretch and I have tryouts and don't know what to do. Any tips or ideas of how to heal, or relieve the pain and prevent further muscle soreness. Maybe some good food tips or something, I have tried soaking in hot water but it just isn't cutting it. Also, if you happen to know any good weight loss or muscle gaining tips that would be apprieciated. I am 15 yrs, 5.6, and 150 lbs. (btw, is that an okay weight?) Thanks! Much Apprieciated!! :)

Ok. So I stopped drinking diet soda (all soda actually) about 3 days ago. YAY! And I stopped eating sweets 10 days ago. Thats the biggest change in my life recently...Everything is normal, except its weird, now that I carry a water bottle around, Im drinking more water than I used to, and my pee is still like bright yellow...shouldnt it have cleared up for sure? And last night I had the most fitful sleep because the back of my legs from glutes to calves have been cramping and so stiff...even now, I just woke up a little bit ago, they feel so aching, like I worked out or something, and I feel like I need to stretch..Any clue of whats happening to me? Thanks!
