This question deals with Italy and the Renaissance during the 15th century. This is actually a very broad topic. But what I am looking for is artistic styles, the economy and politics. Name people if you wish.

What was the significance of the Italian Renaissance, especially re the intentions of the promoters of the art?
I read this in Wikipedia, under "Quattrocento":
"Quattrocento (which means the early renaissance) lay at the forefront of what was to become the Italian Renaissance. Its international manifesto resembles a happening of cultural and artistic events during the 15th century which embraced the artistic styles of the late Middle Ages and early Renaissance: a forefront collection of high-end individualism in the arts to promote the presence of a scientific, cultural, social and economic revolution in hope of preserving the Monarchy through Christianity."
The last part seems to imply certain political motives among the promoters of Renaissance styles. Does anyone know about this, or have any useful thoughts?

Anyways, I know that this era marked the beginning of the Renaissance. But what was truly significant about this era?
NO I DONT WANT TO SEE ANY WIKIPEDIA COPY AND PASTE. WHO IN THEIR RIGHT MIND IS STUPID ENOUGH TO ASK A QUESTION BEFORE CHECKING IT ON GOOGLE AND WIKIPEDIA? MAYBE THAT SHOULD BE ANOTHER YAHOO QUESTION!
Sorry. Should've thought of that. I was wondering what exactly the influence the Medici family had during this era. And some of the artistic aspects and changes that took place.

Clarinetist, The
Pale round arms raising her clarinet
at the exact angle, she sways, then halts,
poised for the music
like a horse that gathers itself up before the leap
with the awkward, perfect, only
possible movement
an alto in a quattrocento chorus, blond head
lifted from the score, open-mouthed
for hallelujah
a cherub on a ceiling cornice leaning out
from heaped-up clouds of opalescent pink,
translucent blue
a swimmer breasting frothy surf like ripping through
lace curtains, a dancer centred as a spinning top,
an August moon
alone, in front of the orchestra, the conductor's
other, and unacknowledged opposite,
she starts the tune.
