I have a PC, I use windows. IE was my default browser, I downloaded firefox, and then accidentally deleted IE while cleaning my computer. I also accidentally downloaded safari while updating itunes. That left me with two browsers: firefox and safari. I returned from a small trip out of town to find my internet not working: firefox window will not open, and sa box pops that says firefox.exe has encountered a problem and has to close. Safari also has an error message along those lines.So whatever it is, it is not just a problem with firefox. Neither browser would work. Because I downloaded safari by accident, I delete it off my computer. Now I have one unworking browser, firefox. It also does not work in safe mode. My mother discovers that I'm missing the firefox.exe file, which apparently runs the whole thing. I look some stuff up online and try to redownload firefox, thinking that may be the problem. But when I tried to open firefox, I got the same message I did before, Interent connection is working fine, I have a working wireless router. Firewall is not blocking firefox. I have an Apple eMac running OSX. The Firefox icon is on my desktop along with another Firefox icon with something behind it that looks like an iPod. Each time I hit the Firefox icon on my dock a window comes up with a big Firefox icon, a globe with a plus sign on it and an Applications folder icon. How do I stop this from showing up each time I go into Firefox?? Thanks for your help!!

Hey, why can't I download anything using Firefox and can download it using Internet Explorer, I've found a note inside McAfee folder, it's written something like this "[iexplorer.exe] Enabled=0 Type1=1 Type2=0...............[mozilla.exe] UnsupportedBrowser=1". Any idea? I can't uninstall or remove the McAfee, and I've tried like everything to uninstall it, but it just comes out I can't.

I just downloaded Firefox to my new computer. But I set it as my default browser. Now I need to get Internet Explorer (which was my original browser) back, so I can use my email. I want firefox only as a seperate browser. So how do I change my default browser back to Internet Explorer?

OK so I found a new game and I've never downloaded on Firefox, and the only reason I'm using firefox is because my other browsers apparently arent compatibale with the site... showing up as a bunch of characters. On occasion when I try to download a WMV (only happens with WMV, probably cause it confuses it with and embedded video) it loads in the window and instead of the download dialog box, it downloads it into the browser which results in it showing up as text and random characters which really slows down Firefox. Sometimes it does this, other times it doesn't, so does anyone know how to put a setting as always download and not play in window or something?

In firefox 2 one of my favorite features was that when you exited the browser without "closing" it the normal way, like using the task manager to shut it down or just turning your computer off with firefox running, you could start firefox again, and recover all of the pages you had opened as you left them. I recently downloaded firefox 3 however, and I can’t seem to figure out how to get the newer version to do that. Assuming that firefox is no longer asking me to start a new session or restore the old, is there any way to change my settings so it will automatically restore the old so I don’t have to rummage through my often enormous history?

When I attempt to log into my Yahoo Classic email account I now get a page popping up redirecting me to "Download Firefox 3.6" without any bypass options - I cannot access my Yahoo email account. My current Firefox 2.0.0.11 browser has worked fine with this account until March 18, 2010. I use my PDA as modem for a Laptop(no landline available at present).I have Windows XP PRO O/S,with internet explorer and firefox browsers installed. I also have Windows Live Messenger installed as my primary IMC. I'd like to download and run Yahoo! messenger and run the two in parallel.Every time i attempt the download, neither browser permits this. I have a mac that I formatted not too long ago and I had to download firefox/an internet browser among other things. I downloaded the new firefox, firefox 3.6.4, and there seems to be a problem that I can't fix. Whenever firefox crashes, i reload it and my previous session isn't restored - the firefox before this version when my mac wasn't formatted always restored my session. but the newest firefox doesn't do that...how can I make my firefox restore my previous sessions?

When I bought my laptop, it had internet explorer 5. Then I downloaded firefox, then I downloaded internet explorer 7. When I downloaded internet explorer 7, internet explorer 5 vanished. Now I have two web browsers, internet explorer 7, and firefox. When I go to the start menu, it says, internet, and underneath it, it says mozilla firefox. And then more under, it says, internet explorer with the "e" with a yellow line. How do I make the word internet appear over the words "internet explorer" in the start menu?

I'm trying to put youtube videos on my ipod. Someone said I had to get firefox to do that. I got firefox. Then, they said I had to install the firefox video downloader. I clicked the button that said "install now". Then, I was supposed to restart firefox, so a little icon comes up on my toolbar. I can't figure out how to do that. Okay, I'm a little bit confused with it all, so be patient. I just downloaded the firefox browser this morning so maybe this is why Im a little bit confused. I saved the file, but I don't know what to do with it or how to open it, and when I tried to open with, it wouldnt work either. Help?

I have my own little website and a lot of people do use it, I want to make a branded browser for users to download and use, but I don't want to use the Internet Explorer engine, more of the Firefox/Gecko engine. Are there any tutorials on the web on how to do this or can anyone give me a quick heads up on what to do to make a basic browser with the Gecko engine.

I made a myspace site with Internet Explorer. I have friends who use the Firefox Browser instead of the internet Explorer. I downloaded Firefox to see what they are talking bout and they can't see nothing on my Myspace. I couldnt either. But its perfefect with Internet Explorer. I have an ubuntu OS, Ok so I do the "sudo apt-get update" runs great I no longer need updates on my PC. I open my browser and Im still running firefox 1.5. I move on and download a new one from firefox.com and get a file called firefox-2.0.0.7.tar.gz. It clames its locations in /firefox/ after I open the "tar" file. I read the readme.txt and it says for instructions on how to install go to http://getfirefox.com/releases/... And thats were I downloaded firefox in the first place. I try the sudo apt-get install firefox in the terminal prompt, it starts to work then clames that I already have the newest version. But I dont, When I go to install some extensions I cant. It will say that it wont work with firefox 1.5? All I want to do is run a new version of Firefox. With out turning back to windows. How do I do that? I'm fed up with the bs of IE and have changed to firefox. I have a few concerns. My home page is Yahoo Canada. When I click to open my mail, 360, answers etc... it opens a download window asking how I want to open.. when I click mozilla, it starts to download the browser again. Also, in options, where do I delete cookies and temps? If you can answer these questions and give me any advice you can on this new browser, I'd be forever grateful to you!! Have a fabulous day!! i have Internet Explorer (i'm not sure which one exactly i think it's internet explorer 7) and it's on my laptop i have Windows Vista. anyways, my internet explorer won't work, when i click on the internet explorer icon it won't open up. it does the hour glass or whatever that tells you it's trying to do something but it never ends up opening the internet. it wont open no matter what. i've looked on the internet for a solution and it seems other people have had this same problem not getting internet explorer to open up or work, but i tired everything they said to fix it and nothing worked: i've tired opening it from the Start menu, right-clicking and selecting "run" or "open" or "run as administrator", turning off my pop-up blocker, restarting my computer, disconnecting then reconnecting to the network, doing a system-restore, etc... NOTHING HAS WORKED. i have changed nothing, made no downloads, and haven't visited any unknown/unsafe sites since Explorer last worked. My internet is working fine. My laptop is working fine and all other programs are working fine except Windows Media Player will not open either!! and i really would like it to work again!!! if i select Internet Explorer 64-bit (on the Start menu) it will open internet explorer but it's very slow, can't download/play videos or anything. it sucks. i downloaded Firefox internet browser to my laptop and it works. it is currently what i am using to go online. Please tell me how to fix the problem of not being able to open internet explorer and don't give a useless answer like "i don't know" or "just stick with Firefox". i prefer Internet Explorer since it's what i'm used to and i'd also like Windows Media Player to be working again too!! ok its obvious theres something wrong with my computer i just dont know what or how to get rid of it..my computers are soo slow..just like all of a sudden and its getting worse..it takes forever for pages to load now sometimes they wont even load itll just say like ie cannot find this page..i tried to download firefox cause i heard its the best browser but my comp wont download it..i try to download anti-virus and spyware/adware removal programs and it wont let me download those either..and when i try to watch videos and stuff on like youtube it takes FOREVER for them download if they download at all..so wtf is wrong with my computer..everytime i run a virus scan(on laptop) it says i dont have shit but i know i do so HOW do i fix this! if u dont have a solution dont answer my question thanx :)

I installed IE8 and within minutes I was getting messages that malware had been detected. I tried doing what the virus protection(Avast) told me, but I kept getting the same messages over and over again in succession continuously. Continuously. I don't know what happened. So all I could do was restart the system. When I did, it just froze after a few seconds so you could not do anything. So I tried system restore, back to before I installed IE8. Now the system is running ok, but Internet Explorer is not functioning, either IE7 or IE8, so I have no browser at all. And it seems the only way to get the browser is by downloading it... which you can't do if you have no browser! So anywhere I can get a CD with it on?

I just upgraded to Firefox instead of IE7 and it solved a lot of my problems, I wish I'd done this much sooner. I primarily use Flashget as my download manager, are they compatible and how do I set this up if they are?

I am using Firefox 3.5.5. While I was trying to do a download from the internet, I was prompted to activate the javascript in order that download can proceed. Under the tools menu, I saw java console. I clicked on this but I did not see any further change. I got no idea how to proceed. I have no previous experience with this.
